What is skin needling?
Skin needling is also called facial needling. It is not acupuncture. The technique reduces the depth of wrinkles and fine lines on your face. It also reduces shallow depressed scars such as chicken pox or acne scars. Facial needling is a natural skin rejuvination method that fills and softens wrinkles and scars. It does not use chemicals, fillers or lasers. The process creates hundreds of microscopic pin pricks to activate your body's wound healing process. As your skin heals, it uses your own collagen to fill the valleys of wrinkles and scars, naturally!
Applications of the needling:
Wrinkle Treatment: Fine lines and wrinkles on the face can be diminished by facial needling.
Indented Scars: Needling procedures can decrease the depth of pitted, depressed or shallow scars caused by acne, chicken pox, surgerys or trauma.
How long is the healing process?
For either wrinkle or scar treatment, swelling is minimal and surface healing occurs in a few days. Immediately after the procedure, your skin will look red in the places that were needled. Fine lines and wrinkles will look like cat scratches, or appear like they have paper cuts inside them. Scars will be red as if a scab has been peeled off. Redness lasts three to four days, then turns pink by day five and continues to fade.
Heal the burn by needling.
In a procedure called prolotherapy, the esthetician uses a needle not to inject theraputic medicine, but rather a known irritant from talc to dextrose into the injury site. It is now known that cortizone shots (anti-inflammatory hormone) work not so much from the actual cortizone, but because of the micro trauma caused by the needle itself. Cortizone helps relieve pain in the short term, but over time weakens tendon tissues. Studies have proved that simply poking around with the needle gets better long term results. This process is called "dry needling." It is another technique that causes a small amount of tissue damage so the body will "wake up" and respond to the injury.
